Fifa to support sports development in Ghana

World Football Governing Body FIFA is promising massive support fopr the development of sports in General and football in particular in Ghana.

 In lieu of this FIFA President Sepp Blatter says A FOOTBALL FOR HOPE Centre is to be established in Ghana to further that course. The Football for Hope project aims to fully utilise the power of football in society.

 It tackles five broad areas of concern which are  health Promotion, education and Children rights, environment ,peace building and anti discrimination and social intergration.Sepp Blatter made the commitment when President Mills who is on a state visit to Switzerland paid him a visit at FIFA Headquarters and held discussions with him.

According to Sepp Blatter  FIFA is minded to collaborate with government to do this because of the enormous potential football holds in transforming society and lives if well managed.

 Sepp Blatter also took the opportunity to promise FIFAs support to Ghana to establish an Educational facility being Championed by three time African Footballer of the year Abedi Pele to award Diploma to football administrators. He was full of praise for Ghana’s Black Stars for the feat they achieved at the just ended FIFA World CUP in South Africa.                                   

Meanwhile President Mills has promised his administration’s support to Football in the country. He was hopeful that the Football for Hope Centre to be established would duly serve its purpose.

CEPS moves to stop persistent loss of Revenue at the Tema port
In a move to stop the persistent loss of revenue due government at the various ports, the customs division of the Ghana Revenue Authority(GRA), has introduced a new programme called the Valuation Assurance programme to stakeholders operating at the Tema Port.

Utility Tariffs go down

Consumers of utility services may now heave a sigh of relief, following government’s decision to further reduce the tariffs to lessen their burden. Government has allocated GH¢20 million as subsidy to help reduce the rates for all the different categories of consumers.
